Tutorial

The Converter is a simple unit converter. It's available on the android market. The main view looks like this:

It's a list of all the fields that are available. Tap on one to start converting. Tapping on an item will take you to the conversion screen.

The spinners just above the clear button show the units. Both text boxes above them can be used to enter values. If you start entering a value on either text box, that value will be converted from the value shown on the spinner below it to the value shown on the opposite spinner, and the converted value will show up on the other text box. The values are being converted as you type.

How to convert values:

For example, if you want to convert a Celsius value to a Fahrenheit value. Tap on "Temperature" from the main screen.

It will take you to the temperature conversion screen.

Since you want to convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit, and they are already chosen, you can type in your value in the right text box. Just tap on the text box above Celsius.

Now as you type in the Celsius value, the Fahrenheit value will immediately appear on it's text box.

Let's say you want to convert the same Celsius value to Kelvin. All you have to do is tap on the spinner that says Fahrenheit, and choose Kelvin from the list that pops up.

The value for that text box will then be converted to Kelvin.

Note that you can use the green clear button to clear all the values shown on the two text boxes. And you can press the menu button from your device and then tap on "preferences" to choose preferences. You can set the clear button to be invisible from there.

You can change the decimal accuracy of the converted values. This can also be found under preferences.

  1. Thanks great app. Simple 2use swell. Just wonder if u would add a timer converter. For instance how many months is 90 days, or how many hours is 326 minutes etc. Keep up the good work. Cannot believe no 1 has commented on your site.

  4. Hi Asif,

Nice update... there is only one thing I have noticed. Just the weeks conversion is missing ;) Other than this, perfect and good job.

  5. Jonny, I have sent out another update that includes weeks conversion. It took me this long since I was out of country all this time and couldn't get an internet connection on my laptop. Again, thank you for your support.

  6. I was about to get the paid version... but this comment at the Android Market worries me: "I can't use without Internet connecting. Ever need Chek my license." Is this true. Regards.

  7. I second the question from Robin. Will this device work if one is not connected to the internet? I have a WiFi device...
Indeed, I do not see why the app needs internet at all. Units of measure do not change and you can email us if there is an update on the app...

  8. About Robin's concern. The issue was real, and it had been fixed. The Problem was the default licensing check implementation provided by google would check for a license too frequently, and not having an internet connection would cause it to fail. But it has been fixed.
To Charles, the app does not require internet connection to function. The issue required by Robin was about the paid app. The paid app does not directly require internet connection, but it does require android market licensing check permission. Which uses the internet connection to check for a valid license.

  9. Hi Asif...
You have cool softwares in android market.
Can you please tell me whether you are satisfied with the sales of unit converter.
How much are you getting paid.
I am a nokia developer and i have some apps but nothing is paying well.so , i plan to shift to android development.
Before doing so, I thought of asking an android developer himself for outcome and then move on.

    kindly provide me some info.

  10. Hi Asif,
How do I enter a negative temperature value? I am using SwiftKey and when I long press the key for the minus symbol, nothing happens. Thank you. - Chris

    1. It turns out that the negative symbol in SwiftKey has to be the one on the characters screen, not the numbers screen in order to work in Converter Pro.
